Can seawater keep data centres cool?

Why logistics is now strategic for data centres

The real bottleneck in data centre builds isn't hardware

and more...

Hello Reader,

It has been a packed week. Here's a snapshot of what I did:

  • Moderated a panel of experts in seawater cooling for an international audience invited by Grundfos.
  • Spoke on a panel with DHL about how digital infrastructure has evolved, and the role of the supply chain.
  • Exchanged notes with dozens of industry experts and insiders during TechWeek and at w.media Connect.
  • Attended Ecolab's seminar to learn about liquid cooling, including a talk by Nvidia Distinguished Engineer Dr Ali.

And of course, there are many 1-to-1 meetings and impromptu chats about data centres and AI. For example, the root of the recent pause in data centres in Thailand, the fully booked data centres in Indonesia and Johor, or the real situation in Batam.

For sure, I am deeply appreciative of those who shared freely with me. There are so many new learnings and insights percolating through my mind right now. I'll try to gradually tease them out over the next week.

New questions have also surfaced. I mean, will demand for AI continue to surge? What type of data centres should we be building? Is 800 VDC really the shape of all future data centres?

These are pressing questions. While many data centre suppliers are seeing unbelievable sales volume, what does the trajectory look like, and what can we expect next?

In fact, I'll be heading over to a top semiconductor maker tomorrow. There, I'll share with its partners how data centres have evolved in the last few years - and what I think will happen next.

But what do you think? I'd love to hear from you.

Regards,
Paul Mah
